Youth Essay Contest Awards Ceremony

Monday, May 30, 2016

The winners of Lohman's inaugural Youth Essay Contest will be recognized during the annual Memorial Day Remembrance. Titled "The True Meaning of Memorial Day," each essay submission was reviewed by a committee that selected the six winners who will share cash prizes totaling $1,600. All Volusia County area middle and high school students were invited to participate, and submissions were accepted at the funeral from through the entire month of April. The contest's purpose was to inspire youths in our community to learn more about this important holiday.

Youth Essay Contest

Entry Deadline: April 30, 2016

Open to all Volusia County area middle and high school students, we hope our Memorial Day Youth Essay Contest will inspire young people in our community to learn more about the true meaning of this special day. Final judging and selection of winners will be made by a committee selected by Lohman Community Outreach. Decisions of judges are final. Results will be announced at the May 30, 2016 Essay Contest Awards Ceremony at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Reception will follow. Health & Fitness Fair 

Lohman Community Outreach will have a table at the 6th Annual Feeling Good Health & Fitness Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Florida Hospital Flagler. This annual event will send hundreds of people to the hospital, but only for good reasons! Participants may receive free samples, healthy treats, screenings, one-on-one conversations with healthcare professionals, and so much more.

Recipient of the Association for Death Education and Counseling’s Death Educator Award, he serves as the Director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is also a faculty member of the University of Colorado Medical School’s Department of Family Medicine. He is the author of more than fifty bestselling books on grief and loss. 2013 Santa for Seniors Gift Drive

Be a part of our joint efforts as Council on Aging (Meals on Wheels), Lohman Funeral Homes and WNDB team up in a gift collection drive for the seniors of Volusia County. All gifts will be distributed to COA clients through a staff/volunteer visit just before Christmas. Drop off your gifts at our Lohman Funeral Home locations from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.
