Patricia June Harris Rogers, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Bishops Glen in Holly Hill, FL. Pat was born June 15, 1930 in Cordele, GA to Culma Harris and Sara Tison Harris. She grew up and attended school in Cordele, and later attended Tift College earning a Bachelor of arts degree. Pat worked as a social worker in Savannah, GA and in 1960, she moved to Jacksonville, FL and married William Judson Rogers in 1961. She graduated from Tulane University where she received a Master in Social Work. She worked as a family counselor in Baton Rouge, LA and Jacksonville, FL. In 1968, Pat worked with ACT Corp., Volusia County, and became director of Stepping Stones in 1981. Stepping Stones provided special help to children before they reached school age. Also, she worked in private practice with the Counseling Service of Coastal Florida and with the Family Study Center and Counseling Associates, Ormond Beach. In 1981, Pat was named Social worker of the Year. In 1983, she was granted a license to practice as a Clinical Social Worker. She retired after working for many years with Our Children First. She enjoyed her career as a certified social worker and as a marriage and family counselor. Pat especially enjoyed the friendships she made while working. She loved her clients and valued their relationships. Pat and Judson enjoyed traveling and enjoyed their trips to Europe. They especially loved the time they spent at their cabin in the mountains of north Georgia and spent as much time there as possible. Pat was a fan of the opera and attended many, but she was especially proud and supportive of her husband Judson's involvement in choral music, both at the high school and college levels. Judson founded the original Bel Canto singers in the Daytona Beach area and she was his most ardent supporter. Surviving Patricia is her cousin Jackie Perrin and Husband Tom, Tallahassee. She is also survived by her late husband's family, John, Kirby and Eleta and their spouses and families. In addition, she is survived by an abundance of longtime loving friends, both in the Daytona Beach area as well as her high school and college friends in Georgia. Many of them helped to provide for her care. Pat and Jud took great pride in their animals and adopted many during their years of marriage. If you wish to make a memorial donation in her name, you may want to consider one of her favorites, Journey's End Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 220163, Glenwood, FL 32722 or the Halifax Humane Society.
