Marie Rose Squillacioti Wieners, age 85, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, December 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family in her residence at Brookdale Ormond Beach West.
Marie Squillacioti was born to Mary (Gallipoli) and Joseph Squillacioti in Queens, NY on May 22, 1932. Marie was the last of four children, she had two brothers, Domenic and Vincent Squillacioti and one sister, Catherine Squillacioti Greaves. On August 17, 1952 Marie was married to Robert Frederick Wieners and together they raised four children, Robert, Terri, Rosemary and Marielaina.
Marie was very passionate about many things, especially her family. Marie invested her life in her four children and she stayed home to raise them, until they were young adults. She was an excellent cook and made sure her family always had well prepared and healthy meals. Marie loved gardening and spent many hours working in her beautiful gardens. She shared her knowledge of plants and gardening with her children and even gave away many of her plants to family and friends. Before Marie had her children, she worked as a very talented seamstress. Later in her life she used those talents, working at Singer, to teach sewing classes. Also, Marie was very inquisitive and had a passion for learning. She loved to research topics on the computer.
Marie was a very devout Christian and was constantly reading and studying her Bible, listening to sermons and hymns and praying for her family and friends. She had a very deep and personal relationship with God, and it showed in her words, her actions and her everyday life. Marie was a loving, devoted and supportive wife to her husband, Robert, for 59 years, until his passing on January 29th, 2012.
After all of her children grew up and left home, Marie entered the workforce and brought the same passion to the workplace as she had for many other things. Marie worked for several different employers, including GE Systems, Kontron and her last employer was the IRS.
Marie is survived by one son, Robert (Cynthia) Wieners of Foxborough, MA; three daughters, Terri (James) Johnston of Deerfield, NH, Rosemary (Eric) Belock of Fleming Island, FL, and Marielaina (Mike Connor) Lewis of Daytona Beach, FL; one brother, Vincent (Margie) Squillacioti of Merrick, NY; six grandchildren, Jessica Binns, Marcella Bourassa, Daniel Wieners, Heidi Olmstead, Alexander Belock, and Anastasia Belock; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, and her husband of fifty-nine years, a brother, Domenic Squillacioti, and a sister, Catherine Greaves, preceded her in death. A service for family and friends will be held at the graveside on Friday, December 22nd, 2017.
