Lorraine (LaBella) Stacy was born in Syracuse, New York to Lawrence N. and Helen (McMenamy) LaBella in the spring of 1931. As a child of the “Great Depression”, Lorraine would recall because of her faith, love of family and wonderful friends she never felt she had to do without; life was always good. She graduated from North High School and pursued a career after graduation in secretarial work.  In the 1970’s Lorraine moved to Baldwinsville, NY and became a secretary for the Baldwinsville School District.  Her interaction and work with children was more than a job; it was a calling. Upon her retirement in 1986, Lorraine and her devoted husband Tom moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida to fulfill their dream of sharing their life with their children: Lorry (David) Hood, Cindy (Ted) Rosa, Louie Sposato and Chris (Jayne) Stacy.  Their lives would be complete with the year-round joy of being “Nana” and “Papa” to their precious grandchildren: Aliesha and Felicia Rosa, Louie Garafolo, Lauren (Cody) Womack, Tiffany Sposato and Shaughn Stacy. Lorraine began a new career in sunny Florida with the position of “School Crossing Guard” for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department. Once again, her love for children, her commitment to their safety and welfare was paramount in her service to the youth of her new community.  Lorraine was also an avid watercolor artist, a quilter and a supreme home chef whose kitchen was filled with grandchildren’s cookie-crumb smiles and wholesome family recipes that spoke of heritage and created a legacy reaching back to her father’s homeland in Italy.  Her final days were spent immersed in the love and kindness of family and friends and comforted by her caregiver Jenna Arcieri as she gracefully gave the world a gentle good-bye.  On February 13, 2018, Lorraine joined beloved predeceased husband Tom and her parents; just in time to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day in the most “heavenly” fashion.  She is survived by her brother Lawrence A. LaBella, Sister Linda LaBella-Morgan (Scott) and several nieces and nephews.  Memorial contributions can be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Donations can be made: www.stjude.org or by mail to PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 3818-0142 or email to [email protected].  A viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday, February 20th, from 5-7 pm at the Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
