Lillian Byrne, 89, called Florida home for many happy years. She was born in Cranston RI, grew up in NYC and raised her family on Long Island, NY. She retired from work as a Purchasing Agent for the State University of NY. She celebrated 53 years of marriage to Joseph P Byrne until his death in 2004. The surviving children are Barbara Byrne, Thomas Byrne, Kevin Byrne, Nancy Byrne, Bonnie Byrne Thornton and Daniel Byrne. Two children, Joseph and Ruth, died at birth. She was blessed with 13 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She loved her parish, Our Lady of Hope and was active in Council of Catholic Women, Bingo and Blessed Sacrament Adoration. She frequently enjoyed travel with the PORT CLUB. Participation in the Irish American Club, local Democratic committee, Halifax Hospital volunteer and tennis were also important in her life. She wanted her funeral to be a joyous event acknowledging the fulfillment of her faith in Jesus' promise. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 3 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Hope RC Church, 4675 S Clyde Morris Ave, Port Orange. Participants are encouraged to honor her desire that people wear "coats of many colors" in celebration of her life. Donations to Halifax Hospice, Pregnancy Crisis Center or Our Lady of Hope Outreach in lieu of flowers would honor her life.
