Leona {Raczek} Goodie, age 97, of Daytona Beach, passed away peacefully in her home on January 1, 2018, attended by family. Born in New Britain, Conn., she worked at the Fafnir Bearing Co. She moved with her husband to the Daytona Beach area in 1966. Leona worked for General Electric Co. for several years and then for a local antique shop. She will always be remembered for her kindness to everyone, her love of children, and her sense of humor. She cherished her family and her home and was happiest when she was outside in her yard and visiting with neighbors. A warm and gentle spirit, she was always available to counsel, encourage and guide with love and wisdom. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, George Goodie, her six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by daughter Georgia Jahns (Irwin) of Tallahassee and daughter and main caregiver Alyce Williamson (Dr. Charles B.) of Daytona Beach; three grandchildren, Aly Garcia of Port Orange, Amanda Christlieb of Palm Coast, and Todd Heacock of Fort Pierce: seven beloved great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to Halifax Hospice who made it possible for her to remain at home. Special thanks to Colleen Galietti and Sandy Horan whose loving care is so appreciated. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
