Joan E. Stanco, 90, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018 at her residence in Holly Hill, Florida. She was born on November 29, 1927 in Albany, NY, the daughter of Katherine and Gilbert Reynders. Joan graduated from Albany High School in 1945 and took courses at Albany Business College, before working for the telephone company. She met her husband, Patsy A. Stanco, in 1945 after the war, and they married in 1947 and lived in Schenectady, NY. After her children were grown, Joan worked for the New York State Department of Transportation Legal Affairs. Joan and Pat were married for 57 years before Pat died in 2004. Joan is survived by her three sons James (Janet), Edward (Ina) and Roger (Margaret), five grandsons, a granddaughter and eleven great grandchildren.
Joan and Pat moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1982, where Joan thoroughly enjoyed being active and social for many years, playing in bridge groups, serving and being a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club, the Palmetto Club and the Moose Club, in addition to other favorite activities including travel and dancing. Joan also loved her dear rescue cat, Sadie, over the past several years.
Visiting hours are planned for 11 am -1 pm on Friday January 5th, followed by funeral services at 1 pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 Granada Blvd., Ormond. Interment will immediately follow.
