Kenneth R. Green, 88, of Ormond Beach, Florida died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Indigo Palms Daytona Beach, Florida.
Born December 31, 1928 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Russell and Charlotte (Darby) Green. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Schneider) Green as well as his daughter, Deborah Green.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church Ormond Beach on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Kenneth Russell Green, 88, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Indigo Palms Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church; 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd. Ormond Beach,, Florida.
Kenneth was born December 31, 1928 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Russell and Charlotte (Darby) Green.
He completed his Associate of Science degree in Horticulture at Rutgers University.
In the early 1950’s he and his wife, Mary Ann, resided in Alexandria, Virginia, in close proximity to Washington DC where Kenneth was an officer in the Metropolitan Police Force. He was awarded a Policeman of the Year medal during his tenure, and even guarded President Truman for a time.
Years later, with daughter Deborah on the way, Kenneth pursued his love of horticulture and started a tree farm, landscaping and garden center. As his business acumen increased, he entered a partnership in a Ford Tractor agency and eventually landed a new Ford Tractor franchise. He and his brother, Malcolm, built the business from the ground up.
He was a member of the Elks, and enjoyed working around the house, inside and out.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Ann Green and his daughter, Deborah Green, both of Ormond Beach, by her brother, Malcolm Green of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was preceded by his sister Alice and a brother, Donald.
